Why COAs Matter in Research
A Certificate of Analysis is the formal statement of what a compound is and how that was determined. Without it, a reference material is unverified.
What a strong COA includes
- Identity confirmation (typically mass spectrometry).
- Purity by a stated method (typically HPLC) with the actual value.
- Batch and date references for traceability.
- The testing facility or methodology behind the numbers.
A COA describes the sample. It is documentation, not usage guidance. For laboratory and research use only.
